About Best Choice Auto Care

Best Choice Auto Care is an independently owned and operated repair facility doing repairs, scheduled maintenance and custom exhaust in Port Orange and the surrounding area since 1989. We have 5 bays and service cars (foreign & domestic) and light trucks.

We have been a AAA Approved repair shop since 1997, and a NAPA AutoCare shop since 1993. We are an ASA member and ASE. All of these memberships hold us to a high standard in our industry. We are glad to be part of them.

Our staff has changed since the technicians we started out with 10-15 years age have all retired in the last couple of years. Like any team sport, we are building our team again. We are proud of our current crew and what they bring to our shop.

Jim & Kathy, Owners

Owners and operators since 1989, we hail from Chicago. We have been in the auto repair industry since 1966 where we had Shell Service Stations. Jim is a Master Technician and still can show these young technicians that the old boy knows a thing or two. Jim has 50 years of experience with cars.

Kathy holds down duties in the office doing day-to-day bookwork, advertising and marketing. Kathy has worked side-by-side with Jim since 1968. They have 2 daughters and 7 grandchildren.

John J. Jensen (JJ), Service Manager

JJ joined our staff in 2011. He brings 40 years of automotive repairs and management experience. JJ spent 5 years in North Carolina working with NASCAR. He came to Florida to marry his high school sweetheart. He has 1 grown son. His awesome customer service and championship winning attitude will be his greatest asset to our Best Choice Auto Care family.

B. Bopp, Exhaust Technician

B. Bopp joined our staff in 2008, replacing his brother who retired after 13 year with us. B. Bopp originally hails from Michigan. He does awesome exhaust systems, which he most likely picked up from his brother. When he is not busy with them, he does general technician duties and alignments. B. Bopp has been in the industry for 30 years.

Shawn, Technician

Shawn joined our staff in 2011. He comes to our shop with 27 years in the auto repair industry. He is also a Master ASE Certified technician! We are glad to add him to our team.

Frank, Technician

Frank joined our staff in 2010. Frank is an all-around technician and performs our alignment services.

Jose, Technician

Jose has stepped into our diagnostic tech position. Jose has over 30 years experience in the automotive field. Jose has been with us since 2009, and he is ASE certified. He can also speak Spanish to help with our Spanish speaking customers.

Tom, Service Writer

Tom joined our staff in 2011. Tom and his family hail from Chicago. He was a Ford ASE Master Tech for 28 years and does an excellent job as our front counter Service Writer. Tom will help you with your service write up and make sure all your questions and concerns are addressed. Our customers love Tom, and more importantly, Tom loves our customers. We are so glad to have him on our staff.

Chuck, Diagnostics and Drivability

Chuck started with Best Choice Auto Care in 2011. He is an ASE Certified Master Tech and has been a tech for 26 years. He is our Diagnostic and Drivability Tech and his experience brings much to our shop. His diagnoses are quick and accurate; there really isn’t too much can’t figure out. Chuck adds a nice balance to our staff, and we are happy to have him on board.
